Introduction to the resources of medical assistance device provided by the Department of Health, Taipei City Government
Kind of welfare
The Department of Health, Taipei City Government provides various items of subsidies of medical expenses for the people with physical and mental disabilities, those items are especially not included in the coverage of National Health Insurance but needed for the disabled persons during medical recovery periods. With the subsidies, the persons with disabilities can afford the medical assistance devices and certain rehabilitations, and the subsidies substantially alleviate the burden of caretakers.
The subsidy consists of two categories, which are:
- Assistance devices include: Percussors, suction machines, nebulizers, Bi-PAP machines, C-PAP machines, oxymeters, oxygen generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), A to G types of pressure suits, and silicon pads.
- Medical expense include: Cochlear implant operation expense, fees for diagnosis certificates, and fees for issuing assessment reports of assistance devices.
Service object
Individuals who register their residences in Taipei city and have stayed in Taiwan for more than 183 days in the most recent year and meet of the following conditions:
- Individuals who hold disability certificates (or cards).
- The same person has not applied for redundant subsidy item from other sources, such as other medical subsidy, social insurance payment, or any similar kinds of subsidies from the government.
Required documents
- The original copy of the application form.
- The original copy of the disability certificate and the photocopies of the front and back sides of the disability certificate. (The original copy will be returned after in-person verification.)
- The original copy of the National ID card and the photocopies of the front and back sides of the National ID card. (The original copy will be returned after in-person verification.)
- The original copy of the low-income household card or medium- and low-income household card and the photocopies of the front and back sides of the low-income household card or medium- and low-income household card. (The original copy will be returned after in-person verification, and if the person does not have such a card, it is not needed.)
- The original copy of the diagnosis certificate issued by hospitals that performed assessments on physical and mental disabilities within the last three months.
- The original copy of the assistive device assessment report issued by hospitals that performed assessments on physical and mental disabilities within the last three months. (This document is required for individuals who apply for the following assistance devices: Bi-PAP machines, C-PAP machines, oxygen generators, pressure suits, and silicon pads.)
- Other documents that should be supplied.
